Seeing a psychiatrist.

Our psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health (Sp.KJ). They diagnose, prescribe and review medication, and work with our clinical psychologists when therapy is part of your plan.

What a psychiatrist does

A psychiatrist looks at your mental and physical health together, makes a diagnosis, and decides with you whether medication would help. Our psychiatrists see adults, and adolescents from age 12.

The first consultation

There is time to go into detail. Your psychiatrist asks what has brought you in, about your history, sleep, physical health and any medication you take, and may suggest blood tests if a physical cause needs ruling out. You leave with a written plan.

About the first consultation →

Medication

Before you decide, your psychiatrist explains what a medicine is for, how long it takes to work and its common side effects. You'll meet in person to review it, more often at the start.

Your plan can include medication, therapy or both. With your agreement, your psychiatrist and psychologist work from the same plan.

Language and fees

In English, Bahasa Indonesia or both. Your first consultation is Rp 1,500,000 for our founding group of clients (regular fee Rp 2,000,000), and you'll know the cost of anything further before you begin.

Questions

Do I need a referral to see a psychiatrist?

No. If you have notes or prescriptions from a previous doctor, please bring them.

I already take medication prescribed elsewhere. Can Nara take over my care?

Yes. Bring your current prescriptions and any records. Your psychiatrist reviews them at the first consultation before making any change.

Will I have to take medication?

No. Your psychiatrist explains the options, including therapy without medication, and you decide together.

What if I need help urgently?

Nara is not an emergency service. If you are at immediate risk, go to the nearest hospital emergency department, or call 119 extension 8 (Kementerian Kesehatan, free, 24 hours).
